Dean's Corner

Being a leader in acquiring new technology is expensive and risky. One of our responsibilities as a College of Applied Science and Technology is to experiment with new technologies to investigate their use for a wide range of applications. Read more about it in the September 9, 2005 issue.

CAST Office

CAST Research Office

Associate Dean Gentry recently sent news by email of the means by which CAST research teams could request monetary support from the new Research and Scholarship Development Program. Read more about it in the February 10, 2006 issue.

Department of Agriculture

Dr. Gary Bachman was interviewed for a two part series on home lawn care for TV-10.  Read more about it in the May 5, 2006 issue.

Department of Criminal Justice Sciences

Dr. Weisheit was interviewed on the Farm Bureau radio network on October 28 and again on November 1 regarding rural crime and methamphetamine production and use in Illinois. Read more about it in the November 4, 2005 issue.

Department of Family and Consumer Sciences

Dr. Martha Bauman Power and colleagues Drs. Eheart, Hopping and Racine received a grant from the W. K. Kellogg Foundation for $876,310.00 to establish Intergenerational Community as Intervention (ICI) as a viable option for addressing complex social challenges.  Read more about it in the September 23, 2005 issue.

Department of Health Sciences

The Motorcycle Safety Program is celebrating 30 years of operation this year.  In addition to the being the longest-running, continuous grant at Illinois State University, the staff reached another milestone this year with over 10 million dollars in external funding.  Read more about it in the February 10, 2006 issue.

School of Information Technology

Drs. Chu Jong and Terry Dennis traveled to Bowie State University in Maryland in September. Read more about it in the October 21, 2005 issue.

School of Kinesiology and Recreation

Dr. Barbara Schlatter was inducted into the American Leisure Academy as a Senior Fellow on April 26, 2006 at the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. Read more about it in the May 5, 2006 issue.

Department of Technology

DDr. Mohamed El-Gafy received the Teaching-Learning Development grant from the Center for Teaching, Learning, & Technology to Use Visualization and Animation Technologies in Teaching Design of Building Structures for construction management students. Read more about it in the April 7, 2006 issue.
