A graduate student attending Illinois State University on a full-time basis can expect to complete the IS master’s program within two to two and a half years after completion of any required foundation courses. Students beginning the program Fall 2007 or later will be required to attend a summer class during their first year in the program.
Classes are offered during the following semesters, which run according to the following approximate timings:
Students who choose to work and take one or two classes per semester will find evening classes available to them.
Three classes in the fall and spring semesters and two in the summer are considered a full load for graduate students. Students may also choose to pursue the degree part time, taking one or two classes per semester.
Students who are admitted to the IS graduate program meet with the ITK graduate advisor to determine first semester courses and a tentative plan of study. International students living abroad typically meet with the advisor the week before classes begin in the semester they are admitted. Students living locally may email the graduate advisor to set up a meeting any time after their admission to the program is fully processed.
