Degree Completion Deadline

From the time you take your first graduate-level class, you have six years to complete your degree.

Six years sounds like a long time when you are first beginning the program, but it goes by more quickly than you might imagine. Many students have fallen into the trap of leaving before completion of the degree to accept a job offer off-campus. These students typically become engrossed with work and other matters and often do not complete their theses, projects, or coursework in a timely manner. If they return to complete the degree after the 6 year deadline has passed, many of their courses are no longer valid and many (if not all) must be completed again before the degree is considered complete.

We highly recommend that each student remain on campus until all requirements for the degree are completed.
