Faculty Professional Development Fund
In an effort to enhance scholarly productivity in the College of Applied Science and Technology, the CAST Research Office will provide expert statistical assistance to faculty engaged in research or publication. The CAST Research Office will identify a pool of qualified statistical experts and will provide credit for professional travel to the statisticians in compensation for their efforts.
Guidelines: The CAST Research Council will review applications for statistical assistance according to the following criteria:
Funds must be used to pay for a statistical consultant.
The consultant must be one of the approved CAST statistical consultants.
Funds must be used to pay for design or analysis of original research activities.
Consultation must be completed within one year after the receipt of the award.
The maximum amount of funding available per faculty consulate through this program is $240 (8 hours of consultation) per fiscal year.
All CAST employees (half time or more) are eligible for these funds.
Funds awarded to a faculty member must be spent for the specific purpose designated in the application.
The CAST Research Office will request an evaluation at the completion of the research endeavor. This evaluation will help the CAST Research Office to determine the overall success of the Statistical Consultation Program. If this report is not submitted, future requests will be denied.
Application Process:
All applicants must submit an application (pdf) and an abstract of the project to the department chairperson who will review the application to ensure all guidelines have been followed. Chairpersons will forward applications to the Office of the Assistant Dean for Research.
Within two weeks after the consultation, the statistician is responsible for submitting the CAST Faculty/Statistician Verification Form (pdf).
At the completion of your research endeavor the Evaluation of the Statistical Consultation at the Completion of the Research Form must be submitted to the CAST Research Office.
