We emphasize innovative relationships between theory and practice in order to graduate technologically skilled life-long learners who can contribute effectively to their profession and society.
Welcome to the College of Applied Science and Technology at Illinois State University! The College is an exciting and dynamic place where theory meets practice. Our College offers undergraduate programs of distinctiveness and several graduate programs with a national reputation for excellence. The curriculum in the College is rich in history yet dynamic and responsive to real world needs. We have 27 major fields of study situated throughout eight different academic units. Graduates of our programs go on to very successful careers in business, government, teaching, or continue their studies by enrolling in graduate schools.
The Departments of Agriculture, Criminal Justice Sciences, Family & Consumer Sciences, Health Sciences, Military Science, and Technology are in the College. The Schools of Information Technology and Kinesiology & Recreation are also located in the College. Graduate degrees may be earned in six units of the College.
Our enrollment is strong and the academic profile of our students continues to increase. Students are attracted to exciting majors in fields of study like renewable energy, athletic training, enterprise computing, criminal justice, nutrition and dietetics, community and school health, agribusiness, or teacher education.
Many of our alumni are thought leaders employed by businesses scattered across the globe. Other alums have established fine careers in teaching and research, or find themselves working in local, state or federal government careers. Our alumni report high employment rates and careers related to their major. Our alumni also tell us that they feel well prepared in their jobs.
The College shares a rich heritage with Illinois State University which has established a reputation for excellence and a distinguished history as the first public institution of higher education in the state.
